Prayer for Anxiety

Anxiety is one of the most common struggles in modern life — and the Bible speaks directly to it. God does not dismiss our fears; He invites us to bring them to Him and exchange them for something better: His supernatural peace.

Featured Scripture

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. — 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

How to Pray

  • 1.Name your specific fears out loud before God
  • 2.Practice gratitude — thank God for three things right now
  • 3.Breathe slowly and say "God is in control" with each breath
  • 4.Reject every lying thought that says the worst will happen
  • 5.Ask the Holy Spirit to be your Comforter in this moment

Guided Prayer

God, I feel the grip of anxiety right now. My thoughts are racing and my body is tense. But Your Word says to cast all my anxiety on You because You care for me. So I cast it now — every fear, every "what if," every worst-case scenario. I lay it all at Your feet. Holy Spirit, be my Comforter. Quiet the noise. Replace my fear with faith, my panic with peace. You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. I receive that sound mind now, in Jesus' name. Amen.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."

Matthew 6:34

Closing Prayer

Lord, I choose trust over fear today. I am not alone — You are with me. Your perfect love casts out all fear. I rest in Your care. Amen.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Questions

Is anxiety a sin?

Anxiety is a struggle, not a moral failure. The Bible's instruction "do not be anxious" is an invitation to trust, not a condemnation of the feeling. Bring your anxiety to God honestly, and He will meet you there.
