Prayer for Forgiveness
Forgiveness is one of the most powerful and most difficult acts of faith. Jesus made it central to the Christian life — not just receiving it from God, but extending it to others. These prayers help you walk through both.
Featured Scripture
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. — Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)
How to Pray
- 1.Receive God's forgiveness fully — don't hold onto guilt He has removed
- 2.Ask for the supernatural ability to forgive someone who has hurt you
- 3.Pray for the person who wronged you — bless them, don't curse them
- 4.Renounce bitterness and resentment by name
- 5.Ask God to heal the wound beneath the wound
Guided Prayer
Father, thank You that Your forgiveness is complete and final. "As far as the east is from the west, so far have you removed our transgressions from us." I receive that today — for every failure, every sin, every regret. I am forgiven. Now Lord, I need Your help to forgive [name the person]. In my own strength I cannot do it. But I choose to forgive as an act of obedience, and I ask You to make that choice real in my heart. Take the root of bitterness and replace it with Your peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Closing Prayer
Lord, let no root of bitterness grow in me. I choose forgiveness — daily, if necessary. Heal my heart and set me free. Amen.
May the grace that forgave your every debt flow through you to everyone who has wronged you, setting both them and you free.
